Co-founder of Interscope, Jimmy Iovine, Dairold Potts, who is the owner of 319 Music Group, and rapper, Jay Worthy, were present as rapper Kendrick Lamar showed Compton a taste of Christmas during its annual Toy Drive.

On Saturday, December 16, Lamar showed up to lend support to his city to support the “Christmas In Compton Toy Giveaway“. He was spotted wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a pair of Adidas Sambas.

The event also saw people such as community activists and barbers embracing their hometown hero and taking photos with him.

“WHO ELSE HOOD YOU SAW GOT JIMMY IOVINE PULLING UP TO THEY PARK?” he typed. “WESTSIDE THE MOST INFLUENTIAL HOOD IN AMERICA THAT’S WHO ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL TOY DRIVE IN THE CITY OF COMPTON S/O MY BROTHERS @kendricklamar @im_luxxjr @forevachad@pglang AND EVERYBODY ELSE INVOLVED THIS DEEPER THAN RAP THIS FAMILY.”

On the subject of family, Lamar recently opened up about his love for Compton. The rapper, during a conversation about his film, Live From Paris: The Big Steppers Tour, explained why a child from Compton must film a documentary in Paris.

“Nah, like Dave [Free] said, that sh*t hold a special place for us because me and boy was thuggin’, we was on a little boat or something shooting ‘Backseat Freestyle’ and the ‘God Is Gangsta’ video,” he explained.

“We was thuggin’ around that muthaf**ka like 2012, 2014. That was like a second home, just shooting sh*t, just getting material. So to got back and shoot on the anniversary of good kid, that’s special.”

As he went on, he admitted that he added extra juice to the performance for his hometown. Lamar revealed that he knew his city would be watching and, as a result, confessed he was “shaking a**” more than usual.

“The difference for me was, I was shaking major a**, man. I ain’t never shaken that much a**, bro! But at the same time, it’s freeing, though, ’cause that’s who I am,” he added.
