Drake has added yet another accolade to his extensive collection after seeing one of his songs surpass three billion Spotify streams.
The Canadian rapper’s 2016 hit, One Dance, featuring WizKid and Kyla, has become his first track to reach the milestone, making him the seventh artist in history to do so. The song is also the most streamed song of the decade on Spotify, according to the streaming service’s data.
Drake celebrates his new feat
Drake, a constant chart-topper, celebrated the achievement on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, sharing a text message from OVO Sound president Mr Morgan informing him of the news. Morgan also revealed that the song was originally titled High Powered and that Drake recorded it in one take.
“One Dance is officially your first 3 billion stream single, the 7th ever on Spotify. You recorded it in one take in London after a show. It was originally called High Powered. You changed the name to One Dance the day before we had to turn in the album,” Mofrgan wrote.
Shoutouts to Wizkid and others
Along with the screenshot of Morgan’s text, Drake tagged the song’s guest vocalist, WizKid, along with producers Noah “40” Shebib and Nineteen85, thanking them for their contributions.

The achievement also makes WizKid the first African artist to have a song with over three billion Spotify streams. The Nigerian singer has collaborated with Drake on several occasions, including on the 2017 track Come Closer and the 2018 song, Soco.
One Dance was the lead single from Drake’s fourth studio album, Views, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned him his first Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. The song also topped the charts in 15 countries, including the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia.
Drake makes RIAA charts history
Earlier, Drake had registered his name in the history of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The rapper has become the first artiste to surpass 200 million certified single units, according to the RIAA.
Drake’s list of accomplishments does not stop at singles, as his albums have also been making waves in the industry.
