From producing hard-core hits, Afrobeats superstar Davido has gone a bit soft, opening up about his love for fashion and some essentials he cannot live without.

In a recent interview with British magazine GQ, he displayed a collection of personal jewellery, sneakers, sunglasses, cologne, and other items he cherished most.

Talking about jewellery, he spoke about a piece he acquired after releasing his Timeless album and another “frog chain” he made when he was being mocked on social media.

“I made a frog chain because my voice is hoarse and they we calling frog on Twitter and I was like I’ll make a chain out of this, he said.

Referring to the Timeless piece, he stated that “every blessing” from the album was a result of “patience”, hence his decision to make hourglass jewellery because God will bless everyone in their own time.

Davido‘s list of favourite items also includes money, popcorn, a bible, sunglasses, and headphones. He also mentioned American Pie as one of his favourite movies.

The Grammys, he added, was one of his “prayer points,” having been nominated in three categories at the awards, which comes off early next month.

When it comes to acquiring pieces of jewellery, the Gobe crooner advised people to purchase only those they could afford.

“Some people can afford 500,000, 2 million, 3 million jewellery, it’s just the way you rock it, I guess,” he stated.

Although he prefers all-white sneakers he said he won’t mind customising them in Nigerian colours (green and white) and revealed working on a new collection of sneakers.

The interview came days after Davido said he was taking a long holiday from the busy schedule of concerts throughout December. He has been on stage in Nigeria, Ghana, and other countries, putting up heartwarming and well-patronised shows.

Last month, he appreciated his fans for being a part of his 2023 success stories, which he described as an “avalanche of achievements.”
