The 55th NAACP Image Awards will take off this weekend in Los Angeles, but some early birds have been awarded ahead of the main ceremony.
The tall list includes Davido, Chris Brown, and Lojay, who have been named the Outstanding Group or (Collaboration) for their hit single Sensational released in October 2023.
The song since its premiere has attracted positive reviews from fans and is currently ranked 71 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
It is described as a fusion of pop and Afrobeats as various artiste displayed their proficiency in the soothing rhythm. Chris Brown’s captivating footwork and body moves in the official video have also attracted thousands of hits online.
Magnificent, Phenomenal, and Timeless, was how some fans described the new song following the reunion of the two show-stoppers. The NAACP award adds to the many endorsements the single has received since 2023.

With many nominees on standby, the remaining presentation of the NAACP Image Awards will be broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 16.
The ceremony is organised by the U.S.-based National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People. It honours outstanding performances in film, television, music, theatre, and literature.
Rap goddess, Queen Latifah, has been announced as the host of the show for the second consecutive year.
Apart from top musicians, writers, poets and activists would be celebrated at the event. Organisers said the R&B group, New Edition, would also be inducted into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame.
Davido and Chris Brown will be celebrating their win. But the song ‘Sensational’ was is the first recording project by both artistes.
In 2019, Davido featured Brown on Blow My Mind which went viral with the video recording millions of views. That same year, the superstars worked on the song Lower Body before releasing Shopping Spree in 2020.
The collaboration on Sensational in 2023 was more or less a consolidation of the existing bond between the unstoppable music talents.
