The holiday season is just around the corner, and Brandy got fans in a pre-festive mood last Friday by announcing her upcoming album, Christmas With Brandy.
The album will feature a fresh take on festive classics, including “Someday at Christmas,” “Jingle Bells,” and “Deck the Halls.”
The 44-year-old star will also team up with her daughter Sy’Rai on “Christmas Gift” and put the soul on tracks like “Christmas Party for Two” and “Feels Different.”
Christmas with Brandy is scheduled for release on November 10 by Motown Records. The superstar’s first endeavor after the widely acclaimed B7 from 2020, performs original holiday songs as well as timeless renditions on Christmas with Brandy.
The Boy Is Mine hitmaker is renowned for her exceptional vocal ability and emotive delivery, using her distinctive voice to bring a variety of holiday favorites to life.
On “Someday at Christmas,” originally sung by Stevie Wonder, the influence of Motown is obvious. With her distinctive vocal lines, which manage to be grounded and solid while mellifluous and free-flowing, Brandy makes this song—and all other covers—her own.
Well-known holiday songs like “Jingle Bells” and “Deck the Halls” are transformed into deep, soulful rhythms in Brandy’s skillful hands, moving audiences who have been yearning for a modern, contemporary spin on the classics.
In other songs, Brandy sings gorgeous originals that examine the holiday season from many perspectives, such as the romantic “Christmas Party for Two,” in which she pleads with her lover to “Help me undress; oh yes, I’ll be your present; just give me your presence,” and the holiday breakup song “Feels Different.”
Other standouts from Christmas With Brandy include the song “Christmas Gift” in which Brandy and her daughter Sy’Rai are having a blast.
Brandy’s most recent musical endeavor is a clear example of the musical expertise and emotional understanding she has amassed over the course of her illustrious career. Christmas with Brandy is a lovely voyage through the highs, lows, and unexpected turns that come with the festive season.
In addition to the album’s release, Brandy will be shining brightly as the lead in the Netflix original movie Best Chrismas Ever!, which premieres November 16.
Since her self-titled debut in 1994, Brandy has enthralled fans with her matchless talent. That quadruple platinum album introduced her own voice and was drenched in relatable R&B. The subsequent works, such as B7 in 2020 and 1998’s Never Say Never, which produced the Grammy-winning smash song “The Boy Is Mine,” further establish her reputation as a genre-defining artiste.
