“Beauty In Black”: Tyler Perry’s Readies New Netflix Series Following “Mea Culpa” Success

Tyler Perry has widened his network to Netflix in order to include another production in his television universe.

Dramatic series, Beauty In Black will be the first television project the successful producer works on under his expanding creative partnership with Netflix. The agreement began in October 2023 and covered just movies.

The streaming service has revealed the cast of Tyler Perry’s new series and among are Ricco Ross, Crystle Stewart, Shannon Wallace, George Middlebrook, Terrell Carter, Richard Lawson, and Taylor Polidore Williams.

The remaining actors are Charles Malik Whitfield, Bryan Tanaka, Joy Rovaris, Xavier Smalls, Debbi Morgan, Steven G. Norfleet, Julian Horton, and Tamera “Tee” Kissen.

The drama which would be an hourly episodic one revolves around two women. Stewart’s character, Mallory runs a successful corporation, while Williams’ character, Kimmie, who has been ejected by her mother and finding it difficult to make ends meet.

The 16-episode series will be written, directed, and produced by Perry. Additionally, Tony Strickland and Angi Bones will produce for Tyler Perry Studios.

The protagonists of the tale are Mallory, the owner of a prosperous company, and Kimmie, who was driven out by her mother and now struggles to make ends meet. “They find themselves entangled in each other’s lives,” is the official logline.

Perry’s Beauty in Black joins other successful projects like A Fall from Grace, A Madea Homecoming, and most recently, Mea Culpa.
