Apart from Ayra Starr getting a new hairstyle early this week, endorsements for her new album The Year I Turned 21 continue to soar on streaming platforms.

According to an independent monitoring platform, the streaming figures have reached 400 million on Spotify alone.

This achievement, according to the tally, makes the project the most-streamed Nigerian album in 2024 and the 13th most-streamed Nigerian project of all time.

The Year I Turned 21 arrived on Friday, May 31, 2024, after the Sability hitmaker held a listening session in Paris, France, weeks before the official release. A music video for Last Heartbreak Song, a melody off the album, has also reached 7.8 million views on YouTube.

On Wednesday, Ayra told her fans she was “recovering from health issues” but appreciates the love that continues to pour in for the album.

Ayra teased her fans with an abbreviation of the album “TYIT21”, on her social media handle, but did not provide additional information about the project until it premiered officially.

Last Month, the compilation was listed among the top 50 best albums by American music and entertainment magazine, Billboard. A review of the project praised the singer’s “honesty and exceptional artistry and music diversity.”

“Her self-examination is poignant, whether giving thanks to God about where she’s headed in life on the resilient single Commas, clutching her heart due to the pain of unrequited love on the Giveon-assisted “Last Heartbreak Song” or grieving her late father on tear-jerking closer The Kids Are Alright,” an assessment of the project read.

In a recent interview, Ayra stated that she chose to work with the artistes featured on the album because she had a musical soft spot for each of them.

Melodies on the compilation include Birds Sing of Money, Goodbye (Warm Up) ft Asake, Control, Lagos Love Story, Last Heartbreak Song, and Bad Vibes.
