Music mogul Diddy, also known as Sean Combs, is facing mounting pressure to return his honorary key to New York City.

The call comes from various NYC council members following the emergence of CCTV footage showing Diddy assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie.

Council members, including Sandy Nurse and Shaun Abreu, have urged Mayor Eric Adams to revoke Diddy’s key, stating that his actions have cost him the right to such an honor. They believe that Mayor Adams should set a precedent by holding Diddy accountable for his actions.

Nas suggested as successor to Diddy

In an interesting twist, council member Justin Brannan has suggested Nas, the acclaimed Queensbridge rapper, as a potential replacement for Diddy.

Brannan referred to the Illmatic rapper as the “G.O.A.T.”, or Greatest of All Time, indicating his high regard for the rapper. Diddy received the key to the city last September, just two months before Cassie sued him for sexual assault, among other crimes.

However, Mayor Adams has acknowledged the possibility of revoking it. In a recent interview with PIX11, Adams expressed his disturbance over the chilling video of Diddy’s assault.

He revealed that his team is currently analyzing the situation and will make a final determination on the matter.

The footage in question, obtained by CNN, shows a disturbing scene of Diddy assaulting Cassie in a hotel corridor in 2016. Diddy has since apologized for his actions in the video, expressing his disgust and remorse.

However, Cassie’s lawyer has labeled the apology as “disingenuous”, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing saga. The potential revocation of Diddy’s key and the suggestion of Nas as his successor have sparked widespread discussions.
