American rapper Lil Nas X continues to tease fans about his upcoming single, J CHRIST.  The rapper took to Instagram on Wednesday, January 10, to unveil a sneak peek of the music video.

In the short clip, celebrity lookalikes of stars such as Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Oprah Winfrey, and Barack Obama stroll across a field, up a stairway to the ‘gates of heaven’.

In the post, Lil Nas X stated that the music video would be released alongside the track on Friday, January 12.

In his J CHRIST song announcement earlier this week, the musician unveiled the cover image, which depicts him assuming Jesus’ place on a cross as five people begin to hoist him off the ground.

A second video shows him nailed to a golden cross, which then turns into a mechanical costume with a halo.

“My new single is dedicated to the man who had the greatest comeback of all time,” Lil Nas stated in his announcement.

The announcement comes after the rapper spent the weekend taunting his followers. In a TikTok tweet on Saturday, January 6, the rapper announced that his new single will be released independently rather than through his longstanding label, Columbia Records.

Lil Nas claimed over footage of him lip-synching to a famous TikTok sound that his label “gave me the choice of going independent to release my gospel music or staying with them,” adding in the comment that he would be “releasing my first gospel song next week independently.”
