American rapper Kendrick Lamar has again proven his mettle as one of the industry’s most prolific.

His latest single, Like That, has secured the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the second consecutive week, marking a new milestone in his illustrious career.

Like That is a diss track targeting fellow artists Drake and J. Cole. It has resonated with listeners worldwide, amassing 46.1 million streams in the past week alone. The track also garnered 10.1 million radio airplay impressions and sold 6,000 sales-equivalent units.

The song is a standout track from the joint album We Don’t Trust You, a collaboration between Future and Metro Boomin. Its success extends beyond the Hot 100, as it also reigns supreme on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts for the second week.

This achievement is particularly significant for Kendrick Lamar, as Like That is now his longest-running No. 1 single on the Hot 100. It surpasses his previous chart-toppers, HUMBLE. and the remix of Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood.

Like That by Kendrick Lamar, was inspired by a series of events in the rap industry. The song is considered Lamar’s response to Drake and J. Cole’s 2023 single First Person Shooter.

Produced by Metro Boomin, it samples Rodney O & Joe Cooley’s Everlasting Bass and Easy-E’s Eazy-Duz-It. This track represents a significant milestone for Metro Boomin as it is his first No. 1 single as an artist.

J. Cole apologises for dissin’ Kendrick Lamar

Meanwhile, J. Cole has publicly apologized to Kendrick Lamar for his diss track 7 Minute Drill during his performance at the Dreamville Festival.

The song, released last week, contained lyrics critical of his longtime friend and fellow artist.

J. Cole regretted the song during his headlining set on Sunday night, admitting that he felt conflicted about the lyrics. He stated that he respects his peers and feels blessed to stand beside them in the music industry. He also acknowledged that the world often craves conflict and controversy.
