The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards came off Monday, April 1, 2024, with lots of music celebrities receiving recognition.

But one that stood out was Beyoncé’s acceptance of the ceremony’s ‘Innovator Award’ which recognises seasoned artistes for their impactful contributions to pop culture.

The ceremony came off at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre, where the singer released her new Cowboy Carter album.

Apart from releasing top records, the awards committee also took into account Beyonce’s philanthropic work, which has helped communities around the world.

“All this makes Queen Bey the true definition of the modern-day artist innovator,” the organizers said.

The pop star accepted the trophy from legendary singer Stevie Wonder and presented the award to Beyoncé. The singer later thanked Steven for playing harmonica on “Jolene,” a record on her new album.

Beyoncé dedicated the award to other innovators like Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Tracy Chapman, Linda Martell, Prince, Stevie Wonder, André 3000, Tina Turner, and Michael Jackson.

“I love you and I honour you, I want to thank you for making a way for all of us, Beyoncé told Steve Wonder in her speech.

“I’m honoured to receive this recognition from you, Stevie Wonder. Whenever anyone asks me if there’s anyone I can listen to for the rest of my life, it’s always you.”

“Innovation starts with a dream, but then you have to execute that dream, and that road can be very bumpy,” she said.

“Being an innovator means saying what everyone believes is impossible. Being an innovator often means being criticized, which will often test your mental strength. Being an innovator is leaning on faith and trusting that God will catch you and guide you.

“So, to all the record labels, every radio station, and every award show, my hope is that we are more open to the joy and liberation that come from enjoying art, with no preconceived notions,” she added.

Beyoncé’s new album is trending, with songs like Spaghetti, The Linda Martell Show, Bodyguard, Most Wanted, Just for Fun, Dolly P, and others featuring prominently.

Following the release of Texas Hold ‘Em, the album, she became the first black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

The song also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also reached the top spot on Spotify Global, as the global figures for the album continue to soar.
