Call it a star performer admiring another superstar, and you will be spot on. Hitmaker Ayra Starr has described singer-songwriter Raye as her “Queen for Real,” following an impressive record set by the British talent over the weekend.
Ayra Starr added a short but powerful message to the pool of congratulatory messages that had been pouring in for Raye after she grabbed six prizes out of seven nominations at the just-ended Brit Awards in London.
Raye, who was decorated with Songwriter of the Year ahead of the main celebration, again emerged victorious in several other categories in which she had been listed.
She took home trophies for Album of the Year; Artist of the Year; New Artist of the Year; Song of the Year, and R&B Act of the Year, making history as the only singer to have attained such a milestone at a single ceremony.
“Raye deserves every single bit of this man and more! My queen, FR,” Ayra Starr wrote on her timeline in appreciation of 26-year-old Raye, who was also the first woman to win Songwriter of the Year.

“The artist I was three years ago would not believe I’m in control – I’m my own boss,” Raye reportedly said while claiming her award. She performed at the ceremony with a line-up of several artists, including Calm Down hitmaker Rema, who was making his first appearance at the ceremony as an African act.
“I am so grateful to be recognised as a songwriter, as this is a craft I am so passionate about and have been since I started my journey as a musician, and I’m very grateful to those who voted for me to have this award,” Raye stated when she was named Songwriter of the Year.
The songstress holds several records to her credit, including the 2019, singles Love Me Again, and others like Please Don’t Touch and two David Guetta collaborations, Stay (Don’t Go Away) and Make It to Heaven.
Her debut album, My 21st Century Blues, which won Album of the Year at the Brit Awards, had made a significant impact reaching the No. 2 spot on the UK albums chart after it was released.
Albanian singer and songwriter, Dua Lipa, won Best Pop act while Australian, Kylie Minogue, won the Global Icon award. Other winners included Calvin Harris (Best Dance Act) and SZA (Best International Act).
